Welcome to the Bendigo and District Ostomy Association

The first meeting of the Ostomates of Bendigo was held on Sunday, August 29, 1982.  This meeting was to pave the way for the formation of the Bendigo and District Ostomy Association, which operated from different locations within the Bendigo Hospital complex for a period of approximately 10 years.  With a bequest left by one of our former members, the Bendigo Association's new rooms became reality.  Our new rooms were opened by the then Mayor of Bendigo Barry Ackerman on July 26, 1997.

The Bendigo Association, situated in central Victoria, is located at 43–45 Kinross Street, Bendigo, and caters for all needs of all ostomates.  We are currently open three days each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, except for the second Tuesday of the month when we are open from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

All orders for appliances should be in by the last Friday of the month.  Orders can be collected from the rooms or can be posted out. Dual stoma orders and Holiday Issues attract double postage. Current postage rates are $12 for Victoria and $13 interstate per standard parcel.  All postal orders must include a completed order form and relevant postage.  Ensure that all postal orders are fully completed. If the correct postage fee is not included with the order, the order will not be processed until the correct postage is received.

Bulk pre-paid postage can be arranged by contacting the rooms during normal open hours. Please note that e-mailed orders will not be processed.  Faxed orders with pre-paid postage credit will be processed.

After hours collection of supplies will incur a fee of $50, payable at the time of collection.

Our Stomal Therapist is available on the second Tuesday of the month, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. It is not necessary to make a prior appointment to see the Stomal Therapist.

Stomal Therapists may print out the Association's Application for Membership form, the Stoma Appliance Authority form (from the Health Insurance Commission), the Additional Stoma Supplies form, the Certificate of Eligibility form, the Information Sheet and the Ostomy Rooms map direct from this website.

Our annual membership fee is currently $60, and is due for payment in March each year.  The Association is affiliated with the Australian Council of Stoma Associations (A.C.S.A.)
